Rights, at last

This is in response to the article entitled "Thai government grants citizenship to Nepalese" published recently in TKP. This is a humanitarian step taken by the Thai government. It has relieved those long stranded Nepalese who should have acquired Thai citizenship earlier. They can now cherish the freedom as they are entitled to equal legal protection. In general, citizenship is one's birth right. Denying the citizenship rights simply on the basis of heredity and ancestry is simply unfair. When we go back to our origin, it directly discriminates our fundamental rights. We have to try and accommodate everyone and respect the rights of the minorities as well. The Thai government's decision is indeed commendable.
