Business community extends condolence

KATHMANDU, June 3 - Messages of condolence are pouring in from various organizations over the ‘unfortunate and untimely demise of Their Late Majesties the King and the Queen, and other royal family members.

Federation of Nepalese Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FNCCI) extended heartfelt condolence over the ‘unfortunate and untimely’ death of Their Majesties and the Royal Family members on June 1, 2001, issuing a press release here today.

"The untimely death of His Late Majesty King Birendra Bir Bikram Shah Dev and Her Late Majesty Queen Aishworya Rajya Laxmi Devi Shah and other members of the royal family on June 1 has saddened the entire business community. We business people are dazed and overpowered by the irreparable loss", states the release.

The FNCCI has also prayed for the speedy recovery of His Majesty Dipendra Bir Bikram Shah Dev.

Similarly, Nepal Chamber of Commerce (NCC) issuing a press release today has prayed for the speedy recovery of His Majesty King Dipendra Bir Bikram Shah Dev. "We pary with the Lord Pashupatinath for quick recovery of our beloved king" says the release.

The NCC in a separate release has also stated that the emergency meeting of the executive committee of the Chamber has decided to close its office for five days. "We pray for the eternal peace of the departed souls of Their late Majesties the King, the Queen and other members of the Royal Family and extend heartfelt condolence to the bereaved members of the Royal Family.

Likewise, the Federation of Nepalese Transport Entrepreneurs has decided to close its office for five days, mourn the death of the Royals across the kingdom for 13 days, not to organize any public program and to halt the traffic for five minutes on June 13, the 13th day of Their Late Majesties’ death rituals. Issuing a press release, the Federation has also prayed for the eternal peace of the departed souls of Their Late Majesties.

Similarly, Trekking Agents association of Nepal (TAAN), Federation of Contractors’ Association of Nepal (CAN), Film Artistes Association of Nepal (FAAN), the Golchha Organization and the Everest Hotel have also extended their heartfelt condolence over the unfortunate and untimely death of Their Late Majesties and other members of the Royal Family and prayed for speedy recovery of His Majesty King Dipendra Bir Bikram Shah Dev, issuing separate press releases here today.
