Horrifying
nightmare
It is incredibly difficult for me to accept this harsh and
bitter truth. The Royal Family massacre on the night of Friday is one of the most
horrifying nightmares Nepal has experienced in its recent history. I cannot express
in words how I was completely choked and terribly shocked after reading the news. Whoever
committed this act I should say, it is the most egregious, vicious and reckless crime
anybody can imagine to do. When our country was facing unrest and continued political
instability for the last several years, besides the ongoing Maoist war and killings of
people, now this terrible incident has threatened our national unity and integrity. The
Late King Birendra was an adored personality and a symbol of our unity. The Late Majesty
stepped down from a full monarch to a constitutional monarch in 1990 by sacrificing his
power for the sake of restoring the multi-party system. His Late Majesty also contributed
in the formation of SAARC, a seven nations organ. Let us remeber what has done and
contrbuted to this country. And let us try to fulfil what His late Majesty has left
incomplete for this country. May their departed souls rest in peace and may God give
enough courage and strength to the Nepalese people to bear this moment of deep sorrow and
agony.
