Nation continues to mourn Their Late Majesties’ death

KATHMANDU, June 16 - Reports of heartfelt condolences being extended at the untimely demise of King Birendra, Queen Aishwarya and other members of the Royal Family at the Royal Palace massacre are coming in from different parts of the country.

In Morang, Tribeni Bachanalaya, Pokhariya, Biratnagar organised a one-day Shreemad Bhagawat Mahapuran programme on Saturday wishing for eternal peace of the departed souls.

On the occasion, 21 Brahmins chanted Vedas, Gayatri, Shreemad Gita and Shreemad Bhagawat.

Similarly, Purvanchal Anathalaya (orphanage) Parivar also organised recitation of Shreemad Bhagawat, Chandi, Geeta, Vedas and wished for eternal peace to the departed souls after lighting 100,000 lamps.

In the same way, Rastravadi Yuva Samuha (youth group) also distributed food to the poor and helpless people on Saturday wishing for eternal peace of the departed souls.

Lkewise in Dhading, the local Sanatan Dharma Sewa Samiti organised a condolence meeting and offered heartfelt condolences at their untimely demise at the Royal Palace carnage praying that the souls of His Late Majesty King Birendra , Her Late Majesty Queen Aishwarya and other members of the Royal Family may rest in peace.

At the meeting presided over by chairman of the committee Toya Nath Dawadi , a minute’s silence was observed to pray for eternal peace to the departed souls. Photos of Royal Family members were garlanded and auspicious religious texts were read out. Poet Badri Dahal read out Chatpat Manjari hymn.

About 500 people paid floral tributes to their Late King and Late Queen and members of the Royal Family at the condolence meeting where Baikuntha Dhungana and Shankar Subedi had paid rich tributes to Their Late King and Late Queen and Royal Family members through their poems. Chief District Officer Netra Prasad Sharma and MP Ram Nath Adhikari paid tributes to them on behalf of employees and district people respectively.

In the meantime, in Bhairahawa: Siddharthanagar municipality organised a condolence meeting on Saturday on the occasion of the 13th day rites of the sad demise of Late King and Queen and other members of the Royal Family.

Wishing for eternal peace to the departed souls including the royal relatives, two minutes’ silence was observed at the meeting. All the people present there offered flower bouquets and garlands to Their Late Majesties and other members of the Royal Family who died in the Royal Palace massacre.

At the meeting Mayor of Siddharthanagar municipality Sagar Pratap Rana read out the biography of His Late Majesty King Birendra and a host of speakers including former Minister and RPP Central Joint General Secretary Sarbendra Nath Shukla, Chairman of local Chamber of Commerce and Industry Dhrub Kumar Shrestha, DDC president Thakur Khanal and Chief District Officer Tana Gautam highlighted the contributions of Their Late Majesties.

Similarly, Tirupati Cricket Club, Bhairahawa and Nagaric Samaj (Civic Society) Siddharthanagar also organised religious programmes to pay tributes to Late King and Queen and other members of the Royal Family. Recitations of Vedas and Chandi were done by Brahmins and religious hymns were sung by followers of Vedic Sanatan, Shikhs, Brahmakumari, Satya Sai and others. The programme was organised at local Buddha Chowk.General Secretary of Nepal Sant Samaj Acharya Kishor Kumar Gautam and Chandika Poudel of Radio Nepal had expressed their views at the programme.

Likewise, 108 lamps were lighted at local Shanti Bouddha Gumba to pay tributes to Late King Birendra and Queen Aishwarya.

In the meantime in Gulariya, a condolence meeting was organised here under the auspices of Bardiya District Development Committee (DDC) to pay tribute to His Late Majesty King Birendra and other members of the Royal Family.

Speaking on the occasion, Bardiya DDC president Bharat Bahadur Shah said the true tributes to Late King Birendra would be to remember the good aspects of his life and to dedicate oneself to the service of the country and the people.

Nepali Congress Bardiya district president Arun Prakash Singh said Late King Birendra was in favour of nationalism and democracy. A number of other speakers including CDO Dilli Raj Joshi, CPN (UML) representative Prem Basyal,CPN (ML) secretary Laxman Gyawali, NSP secretary Dhanesh Yadav, Babai Multiple Campus chief Bhairav Bahadur Bista and Nepal Rastriya Dalit Mahila Utthan Sangh chairperson Dhansara BK also paid glowing tributes to Late King Birendra at the meeting.

Tulsipur (Dang): Dang DDC, Karmachari Milan Kendra and Officers’ Club organised separate condolence meetings on the 13th day of the sad demise of Their Late Majesties King Birendra and Queen Aishwarya.All the people present at the programme paid floral tributes. At the meeting DDC president Bharat K.C., CDO Shyam Prasad Mainali and Rector of Mahendra Sanskrit University highlighted the personalities of Their Late Majeties.

In Nawalparasi people continue to mourn the sad demise of the King and Queen and other members of the Royal Family.

A condolence meeting was organised at the premises of local Shiva secondary school at Parasi. Participants observed a minute’s silence wishing for eternal peace to the departed souls.

Similarly, women of Parasi and Rupouliya lighted 100,000 lamps and distributed food to the poor people. Some youths of Maheshpur Chowk fed the Brahmins and donated cloths and cash to them. Nepali Congress Tribeni unit organised a condolence meeting on Saturday.

In Parbat trees of different varieties were planted under the joint initiatives of different community forest users' committees to mourn the sad demise of Late King Birendra, Queen Aishwarya and other members of the Royal Family.

King Birendra Memorial Platform will be constructed near the tree plantation site under the auspices of Users’ Committees and a statue of Late King Birendra will be constructed in Kusma under the auspices of Community Forest Users’ Federation, Parbat, according to its president Khem Nath Sharma Poudel.

Statues of deceased Royalties to be installed

JANAKPUR, June 16 (RSS)- Statues of His Late Majesty King Birendra, Her Late Majesty Queen Aishwarya and other deceased members of the Royal Family are to be installed at Local Pidari Chowk, the main northern gateway to Janakpurdham.

The chowk has recently been named after King Birendra.

Priest at Janaki temple Ramtapeswar Das disclosed this at a condolence meeting held by the people of the Janakpur municipality ward Nos. 8, 9, 13 and 14 to pay tributes to Their Late Majesties the King and Queen and other departed members of the Royal Family here on Friday.

He hoped that the people of the municipality and various religious and social organisations would extend co-operation in this task.

Ramdhun, a religious hymn was chanted for 24 hours as a tribute to Their Late Majesties King and Queen and other deceased Royalties.

Religious prayers for eternal peace held

BHAKTAPUR, June 16 (RSS)- Religious prayers were held at the Shree Sushil Bhairab temple in Katunje wishing for eternal peace to the departed souls of His Majesty King Birendra, Her Majesty Queen Aishwarya, His Majesty King Dipendra, His Royal Highness Prince Nirajan and other members of the Royal Family on the 13th day of Their Majesties’ demise today.

On the occasion, Brahmin priests chanted hymns from various holy texts such as the Laghu Rudri, Chandi, the Mahakala Sanimrityunjaya, the Geeta, the Bishnu Sahashranamapath, and the Srimad Bhagawat.

Water brought from 108 holy urns was also released in a sacred pond inside the temple. The prayer ceremony was coordinated by Bishwanath Dhungel.

Similarly, the Katunje Village Development Committee (VDC) organized a condolence meeting at the VDC offices to pay heartfelt tributes to Their Late Majesties the King and Queen, His Late Majesty King Dipendra and other deceased members of the Royal Family.

The meeting prayed for the eternal peace of the departed souls. Similarly, the portraits of Their Late Majesties and the deceased members of the Royal Family were garlanded on the occasion while some 2,000 local people offered their condolences to Their Late Majesties by signing the condolence books kept open at the programme.

VDC chairman Rameshwar Dhungel presided over the programme.

Meanwhile, some 150,000 oil-fed lamps are being lighted tonight at a similar prayer programme to be organized at the initiative of social worker Bhaskar Nath Dhungel.

‘Fake Maoists collude with police’

RAJBIRAJ, June 16 - The CPN (Maoist) today warned the public that fake Maoists are colluding with the police in some parts of the district to carry out robberies and loots in the villages.

Issuing a press release the other day, secretary of the Saptari-Udaypur Committee of the Maoists, Bickram Singh, assured that their movement was directed chiefly against whom they called the reactionary, feudal and capitalist elements as well as foreign agents, not the common people.

The Maoist leader said that they were entirely opposed to a forceful extortion of money and forced donations through blackmailing and threatenings.

The Maoist activist charged the police administration of being in collusion with a band of dacoits in the recent robbery of the Lohjara VDC, among other similar incidents.It has been learnt that the Maoists are preparing to take ‘public action’(janakarbahi) against those responsible in the recent robberies.

The release also warned the people not to hand over their guns to the police. "The arms should be handed over to us," the press release stated.
