House Speaker or court
jester?
I have not felt more ashamed and outraged
than after watching the live coverage of press conference held by the probe committee of
the royal shootings. The proceedings should have been held in a more dignified and solemn
manner considering the magnitude of the tragedy. But unfortunately it was no to be so.
Firstly, Speaker Taranath Ranabhat read the
report in English which was terrible to say the least. I think the CNN and BBC needed a
translator even for the English version. Nobody expected the Queens English but the
language should at least be clear and understandable. But our Speaker made it worse by
behaving like a school kid, highly excited after getting a toy gun. That's not all. He
even posed with various weapons with a huge grin on his face, laughing and even cracking
jokes with the mediapersons. Didnt he realise that those very weapons were
responsible for the deaths of our beloved King, Queen and other members of the Royal
Family? I felt so sick that I could hardly watch the rest of the proceedings.
They could have kept a senior military
officer for displaying the various items. And who were all those idiots laughing and
grinning at the sides of the panel ? It was a such a big tamasha.
The Speaker should resign (obviously he
wont) or at the very least apologize to the Nepali people, if he has even an ounce
of shame in him.
