Time to move on
At this moment of national calamity we Nepalese should try to
over come our past and work together with a hand in hand spirit and keep moving as true
citizens of the state, no matter to what community we belong. It is time to move on.
Wagging tongues and accusing fingers can never be sound strategies in nation building.
Its time we move the nation ahead with His Majesty King Gyanendra to stop foreigners
laughing at us. We should all rally around the King to protect Nepal.
As everyone of us is already frustrated with corrupt
politicians, there is a need to build a strong link between the King and the people. I
personally hope King Gyanendra could go to extraordinary lengths to be transparent,
informative and responsive to the Nepalese.
Also, Nepali leaders should wake up to the peoples
expectations. At present even their mere presence can cause irritation and trouble among
the public. Grief and distress seen among the people at the Royal funerals reflected the
high esteem in which they held the King. Throwing stones and shouting slogans against the
elected Prime Minister and other ministers during the last rites clearly be speak the
peoples alienation from political leaders. This is all because they have failed to
tackle poverty, corruption, exploitation and mismanagement in the 11 years of multiparty
government. This has only widened gulf between rich and poor its starting to
frightened people now.
However, we shall overcome the present tragedy as the silent
majority has deep faith in our present King who will nurture our unity, sovereignty and
democracy. That faith may be the new Kings biggest asset. Therefore The King too
should respect this trust and move forward along with the people to build a strong and
prosperous Nepal.
