Mistreated conference

It was indeed a gallant and a noble attempt to make public the report on "how" the Royal massacre took place, that has left us, all Nepalis, stunned. I think the High Level Committee and the Higher Authorities tried to be as transparent as possible and for people like me the blow by blow account of what supposedly happened caused a "reliving" of the macabre incident, even if we were not present at the palace on that fateful night of June 1.

As a Nepali, I was pained and terribly disturbed at the lack of respect to the victims whom the report was talking about- the lack of respect in the way the personal effects of the Royal family were presented in plastic bags; the media persons present there had the nerve to burst into peals of laughter at the slightest provocation; and above all, our Speaker Taranath Ranabhat had the cheek to point the gun at the press persons in an immature and vulgar mimicry, grinning from ear to ear. What has happened is the saddest of events in our History, but some people present at the press conference treated it as a circus. And this is by no means to pay tribute to the departed souls of our beloved King , Queen and other royal members.
