Rajen Lama enters final

KATHMANDU, March 14 - Rajen Lama of Chorten Snooker entered the final of First Surya Nepal Snooker Championship beating Niraj Gurung of Everest Snooker in a very competitive 10 set match in the first semi-final held at Cosmos Solarium today.

Lama, who won the first set lost to Gurung in 2nd and 3rd set. Not many people would have thought of Lama winning the game at the start of the fourth set but he took the fourth set easily. Gurung, giving a tough fight to Lama won the next two frames. However, the day belonged to Lama as he delivered the knock-out punch taking away the last four frames. Lama won 54-45, 33-80, 44-60, 112-8, 38-84, 52-56, 51-41, 93-18, 71-38 and 59-57 in today’s’ first semi-finals. Lama was also successful in breaking the record of highest break of Niraj Gurung by scoring 49 points in today’s game.

Likewise, in yesterday’s quarter final match, Shankar Thapa defeated Sanjay Mulmi 42-55, 60-31, 81-26, 65-42, 40-50, 50-31 and 77-8 in a eight set match.

Tomorrow’s semi-final will be played between Tashi Wanchuk and Shankar Thapa.
