Sickening ANFA-NSC squabble

You may be wondering that there is nobody taking notice of you. But believe me, you are being scrutinised... and action may well be on its way! Soon!

To sideline our national soccer hero like Ganesh Thapa, and recognize a novice like Geeta Rana to manage ANFA (All Nepal Football Association) means that the National Sports Council (NSC) is governed by people who work in the line of personal grievances, nepotism and mismanagement.

Millions of football fans in Nepal are frustrated, angry and disoriented because we have been denied the opportunity for hosting the World Cup qualification match that was to be held here in Kathmandu. In the process, die-hard soccer fans have been denied this once-in-a-life-time chance for watching an international tournament on home ground. Sadly, the venue has been shifted to Iraq and Kazakhstan.

Secondly, our national coach Stephen Constantine, who was instrumental in taking Nepal's under l6 team to the final stage of the Asian championship and the national team to the SAF finals, resigned obviously due to the NSC's disgusting behaviour. Just when we thought that we had some hopes for taking our football to great heights, the NSC has demolished the hopes and pride of the Nepalese, who love football. When nothing in the country is going right, we could have taken a consolation that at least football is making progress!

We want answers! Why is the ANFA recognised by FIFA and Asian Football Federation, and not the NSC?

Why should someone like Ganesh Thapa who had an illustrious football career and knows a great deal about the game not be reinstated as our ANFA chief ?

Is this dual association in any way connected to the approval of the million-dollar ‘goal project’?
