Win for Saraswoti Campus

Post Report

KATHMANDU, May 17 - Saraswoti Campus (SC) eased through to the quarter-finals of the 2nd Vice-Chancellor Running Shield cricket tournament defeating Nepal College of Travel and Tourism Management (NCTTM) by seven wickets, at Trivhuvan University cricket ground, Kirtipur today.

Man of the Match Tarik Shah, snatched five wickets to prove the NCTTM skipper’s decision to bat first wrong. NCTTM lost their 5 top order batsmen when only eight runs were on the scoreboard. Bishal Acharya tried to lead his side to a respectable score, making 15 runs including a boundary - the only boundary for the entire innings. However, the innings was never same after he was trapped LBW by Tarik Shah. NCTTM could manage mere 76 runs in 20.5 overs, hovering around the pitch approximately for two hours.

NCTTM’s total of 76 runs was more a result of the indisciplined bowling on the part of Saraswoti Campus’ bowlers, who conceded a mammoth 44 extras. Tarik Shah of SC showed the best control with the ball, removing five batsmen in his eight over spell, giving away just 21 runs. Sanju Neupane struck three times in his first spell and claimed the final wicket in the second spell conceding 15 runs in 6.5 overs. Dinkar also claimed 1 wicket from four ovres, that cost him 19 runs.

Despite losing two early wickets, SC opener Tulsi Bhusal batted with patience, made unbeaten 31 off 52 balls, driving the ball out of the fence three times. Bikram Shrestha contributed 18 runs made at a pace of run-a-ball in the later parts of the innings. SC reached the target in just 17.2 overs, losing three wickets. Sudhir Yaadav, Himal K. C. and Bhaskar Rupakheti of NCTTM took one wicket each.

Patan Multiple Campus will take on National Campus for Business Studies, at the same ground, tomorrow.
