Multiple Campus (PMC) defeated National College for Business Studies (NCBS) by 37 runs
today, in the ongoing 2nd Vice-Chancellor Running Shield The selection made by the PMC skipper to bat first proved thoughtful as Samundra Shrestha and Laxman Roka put in 72 runs for the first wickets partnership. Man of the Match Shrestha was deprived of his half century by just four runs short as he was declared run out, unable to reach the crease by a few inches. PMC added 22 runs for the second wicket, looked like able to score over two hundred at that stage of the game. However, they could just score 158 in 33.5 overs due to middle order collapse. Though the NCBS pace bowlers tied down the run flow, they did not strike earlier. Roshan Thapa was the pick of the bowlers, claiming three wickets in just 5.5 overs that cost him 9 runs only. Pradip Bikram also claimed three wickets, destroyed the middle orders of PMC conceding 37 runs in his seven over spell. Dhiraj Dhungana and Kabin Shakya also took one wicket each. Despite forcing the early break through, Roshan Thapa and Dhiraj Dhungana piled 61 runs on the scoreboard, adding 49 runs for the second wicket partnership. Things looked easier for NCBS at that stage, but the quick dismissal of both set batsmen changed the face of the game. PMC bowler came up with vigor, sending the NCBS tailenders one by one. NCBS could only manage 121 runs in 35.3 overs losing all the wickets. Manoj Lamsal was the most successful bowler, snatching three wickets in 7 overs in the expense of 18 runs. Man of the Match Samundra Shrestha showed an allround performance taking 2 wickets in his 6 over spell. Likewise, Sailesh Tripathi also got rid of two batsmen in the same fashion while Deepak Khatri and Sudarsan Napith were content taking one each. Tomorrow, the hosts University Campus Kirtipur will take on Nepal Law Campus in the second last match of the first leg. |
