Rastriya Banijya Bank in Bhaktapur vandalised

BHAKTAPUR, May 29 (RSS)- The callers of the bandh (closure) the main opposition party CPN-UML and other left parties have in the second day of the three-day general strike vandalised the Rastriya Banijya Bank at Sukuldhoka in Bhaktapur district.

A group of 30 - 35 agitators entered the bank from the back door and manhandled the office chief and staffs and threatened to close the bank.

They also broke chairs, fans and the front windows.

Similarly, the callers of the bandh also smeared black to chief of the Land Reform Office Baikuntha Prasad Poudel, brought him out of the office and closed the office. They also smeared black on Nepal Electricity Authority staff.

During the bandh, the Land Tax Office at Byasi was also damaged by pelting stones.

A Bhaktapur Red Cross ambulance which was heading for Bir Hospital from Bhaktapur was also damaged by pelting stones.

The ambulance with the plate No. Ba. A. Yan. 9642 which was carrying a patient was pelted with stones at Jadibuti and driver Sanubhai Thapa was hit by the stone.

The agitators also forcefully closed the offices by pasting pamphlets calling for making the general strike a success in various organisations, offices, carpet industries and shops.

According to the District Police Office no untoward incident has happened and law and order maintained.
