No speculations, please
Iwish to draw your attention to some factual errors in the
article entitled "Shadow of
terrorism" published in your prestigious newspaper on October 30, 2001. It is of
particular concern to us that the writer ( Prakash A Raj) has demonstrated lack of
accurate knowledge and facts on a number of issues mentioned in his article. For example,
reference to the incidents involving this embassy is not only ill intentioned but is also
totally out of context. The people of Nepal are fully aware of the circumstances related
to the two alleged episodes.
The hypothesis evolved by the writer becomes even more
doubtful and suspicious as he himself has made several remarks in the article regarding
the authenticity of his arguments. At one instance he has said that "this is just
guesswork". One would have expected the author to have followed his own judgement
about the state of reporting, where he advises that there is a need to analyze the
credibility of the information.
In view of the foregoing, one hopes that the readers will use
their better judgement and dismiss speculative reporting, bordering on fictitious
imagination and fantasy.
It is expected that a reputed writer and a reputed newspaper
like The Kathmandu Post would refrain from writing and publishing articles that are based
on speculations especially while commenting on a friendly country.
