Hopeless grief

It is with anger and grief that I pen this letter. Anger because the four innocent young quadruplets died due to negligence. And grief because the loss of these four lives will not bring about a significant change in the country’s medical community and health sector.

Shame on the medical professionals and hospitals in the country for failing to help the hapless quadruplets. Since the birth of the quadruplets (Sept 31-Oct1), I have been following the news reports published in The Kathmandu Post hoping against hope that at least one doctor or hospital in the country would rise up and take up the initiative to save the lives of the quadruplets.

I was very proud and hopeful when some Nepalis showed their concern and generosity by giving donations to the quadruplets' family. But I was shocked at the lack of enthusiasm and compassion among the medical professionals.
