Post Report BIRGUNJ, Nov 5 A bronze medallist in the 8th South Asian Federation (SAF) Games, heavy weight wrestler Bramhadev Yadav, escaped an attempt on his life as seven masked men attacked him brutally on Sunday. Yadav, who is now admitted to the local Narayani hospital, told The Kathmandu Post that the assailants charged at him with sticks when he was on his way home at 8pm on Sunday on his bicycle carrying a 13-year-old boy, son of a neighbour. "They were 7-8 in number, who were hiding in a rice field about 2km to the east of the main city and they attacked me all of a sudden," he said. "One of them even fired with his gun at me but luckily I got away with that." Yadav also said that he was carrying Rs 27,000 with him but the besiegers did not intend to loot the money. Yadav said that the attackers were all masked but he could recognise one of them. He has identified one of the offenders as his neighbour Hari Narayan Shah, however, he says that he does not know the reason behind the attack. Yadav received 30 stitches on his head at the hospital and regained consciousness following the treatment that lasted two hours. He had fled the scene after receiving severe injury on his head and other parts of the body. He said that he somehow got the courage to flee as he heard one of the assailants shout: "He must be killed." The main worry for Yadav now, he says, is his training regimen, which consisted of 3-4 hours of workout. He is the heavy weight national champion and was selected into national squad for the 9th SAF Games slated to be held in Islamabad. Wins for Kailali, Jhapa and Morang LALITPUR, Nov 5 (PR) - Kailali demolished Lalitpur 21-0 in the ongoing 2nd Inter-school National girls football tournament held at the ANFA complex football ground on Monday. Kailali, who won against Parsa 7-0 in the first day of the tournament, will meet Jhapa in a decider of semifinals berth on Tuesday. If they manage a draw with Jhapa they will automatically qualify for the semifinals with the advantage of goal difference. Chandra Bhandari, the striker of Kailali scored brilliant nine individual goals to her name. Bhandari is the top scorer of the tournament so far as she scored five goals against Parsa on Saturday. Besides Bhandari, Sita Thapa also contributed seven goals. Likewise, Mamta CK also registered her name in the hat-trick scorer list adding four more goals to her team. In the other match of Group A played earlier the day, Jhapa defeated Parsa 7-0 to register their second straight win of the tournament. Kabita Gurung yet again scored hat-trick with four goals in the match. Likewise, her front-line counterparts duo Aita Maya Subba and Rekha Khawas scored two and one goals respectively. In the day's last match, last time runner-up Morang thrashed Makwanpur 4-0. Ganga Gurung of the winning team scored twice, while Meena Rai and Lila Subba found the net each. RYC advance with win over Itahari MORANG, Nov 5 (PR) Rani Youth Club grabbed the last remaining quarterfinals spot in the third Samrat Running Cup football beating Itahari Municipality through a solitary goal from Prakash Karki on Monday. The last match of the preliminary round witnessed Karki net the winning goal in the 32nd minute. Siddhartha Rai operating in the middle fed a pass in the Itahari penalty area to find Karki, who got better off four defenders to send the ball home. Rani Youth Club, with physically gifted players
in their ranks maintained pressure on Itahari launched a quick counter attack on the rebound with Deepak Khadka and Navaraj Rai fashioning a good combination. But their move met with a similar fate as that of Rani Youth as Rais shot struck the upright. A couple of minutes after conceding the goal, Itahari were into offensive only to see it go astray as Sunil Tamang failed to connect a Deepak Khadka cross fed in from the edge of the penalty box. Leading by a 1-0 margin, Rani Youth Club forced Itahari to defensive in the first 20 minutes into the second session with waves of attacks. However, Itaharis goalkeeper stood as solid as a rock to deny all those efforts. In what turned out to be a dramatic twist of event, Itahari completely took control over the game to force Rani Youth to their toes. But the men at upfront failed to translate any of the chances that came their way that saw Rani Youth Club hang on to a one-goal advantage. Valley Junior, Millennium in final DANG (PR) - Valley Junior team will lock horns against the Millennium team in the Tuesday final of the Shubha Shanti Cup cricket tournament following their 46-run win over Nihar team on Monday. The match was entirely dominated by the bowlers as Valley Junior surrendered against the precise bowling attack of Nihar to loss all their wickets in 18 overs managing just 84 runs. Valley Junior openers Raju Bhattarai (28) and Raju Neupane (19) yet again put on a solid opening stand. Chasing a lowly target of 85 runs, Nihar batting line up faltered as they just managed 38 runs in 16.3 overs. Raju Silpakar and Ashok Rokka were the pick of the bowlers claiming three wicket apiece. Batting hero Bhattarai, who was awarded the man of the match later the day, also clinched two vital wickets. In another valueless match, VYCC registered a 41-run victory against Black Roses.
