Refugee talks

This refers to the three-day secretary level talks between Nepal and Bhutan that concluded the other day in Kathmandu. I have not much to say on this talks. It is too obvious because we do not need any one to tell us about the present status of Bhutanese refugees. However, the way the Druk regime has been trying to delay or ignore the refugee issue shows that Bhutan will not take back its citizens until our army personnel are sent for the resettlement of the refugees in Bhutan. Many say that India should intervene into the refugee issue. What we have been doing so many years is wait and watch. However, I do not like India’s way of dealing with the refugee problem. These refugees have come to Nepal through Indian territory and, if India does not fulfil its responsibility, then why should we ask such a country that shelters and trains terrorists.

What a big brother does, the younger one should imitate him. We have learnt, and know well that India trained Sri Lankan Tamils in Tamil Nadu and sent them to fight in Sri Lanka. Now, Sri Lanka has been crippled economically, socially and politically. New Delhi says that we do not support terrorists. We too can learn many things from India. Bihar police recently supplied arms to Ranbir Sena. Ranbir Sena has had infiltrated into Nepal to carry out raids and robberies in our territory. Unless and until the Bhutanese refugees raise arms struggle against the autocratic Thimphu regime, they will never return to their country. Sikkim and Darjeeling are likely to help Nepal in this regard. Once they raise arms, India will naturally back Nepal for democratic Bhutan and resettlement of the Bhutanese refugees. Because India is aware of its precarious situation.
