Soaltee Super Sixes from Nov 23 KATHMANDU (PR) - The 3rd Soaltee Crowne Plaza Super Sixes corporate six a side cricket tournament will be held at the Tribhuvan University Cricket Ground from November 23-25. According to information received here from the organiser Soaltee Crowne Plaza, the tournament which is being organised in technical support of Cricket Association of Nepal (CAN) and joint sponsorship by Gorkha Brewery and Bottlers Nepal will feature 16 corporate teams. The tournament will be played on round robin league format with the teams being divided into four pools of four. RYC set up final with Moti Ram MORANG, Nov 11 (PR)- Captain Kishore Subba struck twice as Rani Youth Club (RYC) beat Rolling Club of Jhapa 3-1 here Sunday to set up final with the local Moti Ram Sporting Club in the ongoing Samrat Running Shield football tournament. Subba putting in an exemplary show scored in each half with the first coming in the 30th minute followed by another one in the 72nd minute, sealing a comprehensive victory. The Rolling Club, despite dominating much of the play, failed to ram the advantage that cost them the match. Their forwards spoilt several near goal chances in contrast to RYC who converted twice in their five major attacks. To add insult to injury, they conceded a goal from their own player Tike Ram Karki in the 17th minute. Karki - Rollings last defense - in his desperate attempt to stave off the danger from advancing Subba connected his foot to the ball only to find it inside his own post. RYC striker duo Prakash Karki and Subba came up with a nice combination up front sending clear message to Moti Ram boys, who they are to play in the Tuesday final. The Rolling boys reduced the deficit to 2-1 in the 66th minute through Prawesh Katuwal on penalty. Narendra Subba was brought down from behind inside the 18-yard territory that ended in referee Madhu Sudan Khanal pointing to the RYC spot. Morang clinch girls football title Post Report LALITPUR, Nov 11 - Morang completed a 4-0 mauling of Udayapur in the final to lift the 2nd Inter-school Girls football tournament which concluded at ANFA complex, Satdobato on Sunday. All the four goals came in the first half as the last year runners-up kept pressure on Udayapur from the starting whistle. Morang went 1-0 ahead as early as in the 5th minute, when midfielder Pramila Shakya left footed chip shot glided over the Udayapur goalkeeper, Geeta Thulung, to land into the net. As pressure mounted on Udayapur, their defence cracked again in the 9th minute. Morangs most successful striker Ganga Gurung unleashed a powerful drive that hit the crossbar but managed to travel into the net doubling the lead at 2-0. Gurung inflicted more pain on Udayapur girls five minutes later as she forced in a shot off brilliant cross from Nisha Devan for an imposing 3-0 lead. The Morang goal spree hardly ended there as Lila Subba made it 4-0 in the 32nd minute. Subba skillfully dribbled past two Udayapur defenders and rounded the Udayapur goalie Thulung before guiding the ball home. For all the excitement that Morang generated in the first session of play, it ended with a dull second half without any goal. However, it would be unfair not to give credit to Udayapur defense who checked each Morang moves to keep them at bay. Earlier on the day, Kailali clinched the third position in the tournament beating Sunsari 2-0. Both the goals were scored in the opening session through Sita Thapa and Chandra Bhandari. The State Minister of Education and Sports Narayan Prakash Saud allotted the shield, certificates and cash prizes to the top three teams at a function that was held after the tournament final. The nine-day event, organised by the Ministry of Education and Sports in association with All Nepal Football Association (ANFA) drew a total of 15 district football teams. |
