NLL team meet PM

KATHMANDU, Nov 17 (PR) – Officials of the Nepal Lever Limited (NLL) called upon the Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba at the Prime Minister’s residence, Baluwatar here today.

According to a press release issued by the NLL, during the meeting, M S Banga, the chairman of the NLL briefed about the progress of the company’s operations in Nepal, that came into the operation ten years ago. Ravi Bhakta Shrestha, the president of the Federation of Nepalese Chambers of Commerce and Industries (FNCCI) was also present in the meting.

"Nepal Lever Limited is the first major foreign direct investment to come to Nepal after the restoration of multi-party democracy and the introduction of economic reforms," the release quoted Banga as saying.

However, there is a need to create more conducive climate for investment to realize the "second generation reforms" spearheaded by the government to attract more foreign investments, Banga, who is also the Chairman of Hindustan Lever Limited said.

Banga suggested the Prime Minister for accelerating tax reforms and pointed out the difficulties faced by the indigenous manufacturer-exporters in Duty Drawback Refund and IncomeTax Assessments.
