Soaltee Super Sixes 2001 from today

KATHMANDU, Nov 22 – Sixteen of the country’s corporate houses come out of their business boardroom to take to a playing field when the Soaltee Crowne Plaza Super Sixes – six-a-side – cricket tournament gets underway today at the Tribhuvan University Cricket Ground.

The three-day event being organised by Soaltee Crowne Plaza in association with Cricket Association and support of Bottlers Nepal and Gorkha Brewery with a theme: ‘All play no work’ will feature a total of nine matches on the opening day.

The teams, which are pooled in four groups, each comprising of four teams, will play round-robin league format developed by Cricket Association of Nepal (CAN) with the pool winners making it to the last four of the tournament.

The participating teams include Khetan Group, Radisson Hotel, Indian Embassy, Standard Chartered (Group A); Hotel Yak & Yeti, Everest Insurance, Nabil Bank, International Leasing and Finance Company (Group B); Kantipur Publications, Nepal Bangladesh Bank, British Gurkhas Nepal, Kumari Bank (Group C) and Surya Tobacco, Bank of Kathmandu, Nepal Bank of Ceylon, Soaltee Crowne Plaza (Group D)

The opening match will showcase Khetan Group, the last year’s champions facing off the challenge of Radisson Hotel.

Today’s schedule:

Khetan Group vs Radisson (9:00 – 9:45am); Yak & Yeti vs Everest Insurance (9:45 – 10:30am); Kantipur Publications vs Nepal Bangladesh Bank (10:30 – 11:15am); Khetan Group vs Indian Embassy (11:15 – 12:00am); Yak & Yeti vs Nabil Bank (12:00 – 12:45pm); Kantipur Publications vs British Gorkhas Nepal (12:45 – 1:30pm); Everest Insurance vs Nabil Bank (1:30 – 2:15pm); Indian Embassy vs Radisson (2:15 – 3:00pm); British Gorkhas Nepal vs Nepal Bangladesh Bank (3:00 – 3:45pm).
