Nabil, Radisson enter semi-finals

KATHMANDU, Nov 24 – Nabil Bank and Radisson Hotel booked berths for the semi-finals on the ongoing third Soaltee Super Sixes 2001 being held at the Tribhuvan University Cricket Ground on Saturday.

Nabil Bank, winner of two matches on the first day, defeated ILFC by 7 runs in the pool B match. Nabil, after putting up a total of 72 runs for two wickets contained their rivals to 65 runs in the allotted five overs.

Radisson, although losers in the only match they played today, qualified for the semis from pool A by virtue of their win over Embassy of India – the other team from the pool which had equal points.

Radisson were defeated by Standard Chartered Bank 4 wickets. Batting first, Radisson put up a total of 41, which Standard Chartered batsmen were able to negotiate safely losing just two wickets.

In a thrilling Group D match played Saturday, Surya Tobacco edged past Bank of Kathmandu by one run. Batting first, Surya Tobacco posted a challenging score of 68 runs losing four wickets against a balanced bowling attack of Bank of Kathmandu. However, Bank of Kathmandu – who, once, looked on course for a win – failed to score a boundary off the last ball to reach the victory target.

The remaining matches of Group D will be played on Sunday.

Meanwhile, Kantipur Publications – semi-finalists last time – had a consolation win over Kumari Bank in a Group C match. Nepal Bangladesh Bank, with two wins in the tournament, leads the pool while Kumari Bank has two matches to play. British Gorkhas Nepal and Nepal Bangladesh Bank are left with one match each.
