RPP raps Maoists for breaking truce

Post Report

KATHMANDU, Nov 28 - Rastriya Prajantantra Party (RPP) today came down heavily on the Maoist terrorists for breaking the cease-fire unilaterally by launching attacks across the country which claimed lives of dozens of people.

An emergency meeting called by the RPP, chaired by the Party president, Surya Bahadur Thapa urged the Maoists to continue the talks.

The Maoists have been killing innocent civilians in the name of people’s war, said the release, issued by the party today.

The release said that the recent declaration of emergency by the government is within the constitutional limits. However, press release also stated, "Emergency should not infringe upon the democratic rights and terrorists must be punished,".

The meeting also decided not to comment immediately regarding the recent move adopted by the government. The release said that the party needs little more time to evaluate on the recent government’s move.

RPP has also urged the ruling party, Nepali Congress to change their attitude if it seriously wants to bring the situation back to normal.

The move cannot be successful until and unless there is support from other political parties, said the press release.
