No anarchism

This is response to A Sharan’s letter titled: "Keep yourself updated" dated October 8,   2001, TKP.

I’m sure regular readers of this column are aware of my opinion on corruption and terrorist activities in Nepal. However, the situation between Nepal and Kashmir cannot be compared here. The Maoists are an aggressive political party. They want to change the political system of this country. Whereas the issue of Kashmir is that of sovereignty (similar to Palestinians or Northern Ireland). The Kashmiri people have been fighting for self-determination since the partition of India and Pakistan in 1947. The Maoists, on the other hand, are willing to join their hands with the government. So there is no anarchism in this country.

Regarding India’s plea to combat terrorism, the US has told India that, if it wants to be a coalition partner, it has to stop terrorizing Christian and Muslim minorities. The US has further asked the BJP-led government to extradite LTTE mercenaries, anti-government activists of Bhutan, Bangladesh and other countries to their respective governments to whom India has been sheltering.

It is a well-known fact that India also dumps Bhutanese refugees at our backyard. Otherwise, why does the India allow refugees to enter into Nepal but stopped and arrested them when they wanted to return to their homeland? Does such action allow India to be a gainer?

This example of Bhutanese refugees is just a tip of an iceberg of Indian policy towards its neighbours. Tell us now who is misbalancing peace in South Asia? How can we live in peace and enjoy freedom when our neighbours’ houses are in disorder and play conspiracy against small neighbours? Anyway, I don’t hate India as Sharan has said. But I hope I have expressed my opinion like those who love freedoms of choice and justice.
