Sherchan wins 7s Snooker Cup

LALITPUR (PR) – Prakash Sherchan defeated Bishwo Raj Gyawali 5-2 in the final Monday to clinch the Sevens Snooker Cup tournament title.

Sherchan was under pressure in the opening frame and Gyawali ram home the advantage winning it at 58-49. But he quickly leveled the score at 1-1, taking the second 53-14 and outwitted Gyawali once more in the following frame 44-39 to move 2-1 up.

The score was square again at 2-2 as Gyawali took the fourth frame at 63-15. But his game faltered away in the subsequent frames and Sherchan did not let him any chance to recover once he had a break in each of the frames. He took the last three frames at 44-32, 52-45 and 42-31 to complete his 5-2 win in the best of seven final.

The tournament was organised by 7s Snooker Club under the sponsorship of Seagram’s Imperial Blue witnessed on the occasion of Vijaya Dashami 2001. Chief guest Hari Sampang, director of Jawalakhel Distillery, gave away prizes and certificates to the winner and runner-up amid a function held after the match.
