Post Report

LALITPUR, Sept 27 - Depot ‘A’ set up the title clash with Laboratory ‘A’ following their convincing 7-1 win over fellow counterparts Depot ‘B’ in the ANFA Cup Inter-academy Under-14 football semifinal on Thursday.

In the second semi-final Laboratory ‘A’ edged past Gyanodaya ‘A’ ,4-3 in the penalty shoot-out.The final is to be held on Friday at the Jawalakhel football ground.

Uttam Gurung scored the decider in the penalty shoot-out as both teams failed to break the 1-1 deadlock in the regulation (60 minutes) and additional (10 minutes) time. Gurung buried a right footer in the right corner of the net as Gyanodaya’s keeper Paras Thapa desperately attempted a full length dive to his left without connecting the ball.

Earlier, Laboratory’s Anil Karki opened the scoring in the 41st minute. Karki, received the pass off the match’s hero Gurung, just eased the ball towards its destination .

However, the lead didn’t last long as Yubik Shrestha of Gyanodaya found the net in the following minute to level the score at 1-1. Gyanendra Ale, the culprit in the penalty shoot-out ,was the creator of the goal as he sent a right to Shrestha.

Both the teams got several chances but failed to come up with goal.

Although goalie Thapa prevented Laboratory’s Subah Gurung’s spot-kick, the failure of Gyanendra Ale and Dipendra Shrestha sealed the fate of Gyanodaya.
