Mhepi beat Zealot in Dashain Trophy

Post Report

KATHMANDU, Sept 28 – Mhepi Cricket Club (MCC) defeated Zealot Cricket Club (ZCC) by 20 runs in the ongoing third Dashain Trophy cricket tournament on Friday.

Mhepi, after winning the toss and electing to bat, put on 173 runs losing all their wickets in 35 overs.

Amol Sharma scored 30 runs off 25 balls to emerge as the highest scorer for the MCC while Pawan Khatiwada supported him with 22 runs. Jagat Sharma came up with a quick fire 20 runs off just 10 balls, which included three boundaries and a six.

Four bowlers from Zealot – Bipin Shrestha, Dinesh Aggrawal, Naresh Karmacharya and
Anand Gurung—evenly shared
the honours, picking up two wickets apiece. However, Gurung was the most economical of them conceding 21 runs in his seven-over spell.

Required to score 174 runs at the rate of almost 5 runs an over, Zealot batsmen struggled to hold their wickets till the end overs, managing 153 runs in 33.4 overs.

Bipin Shrestha came back to rescue with the bat, putting on 31 runs — the highest in the Zealot innings while Ritesh Lamichhane contributed 28 runs. Two other batsmen, Mayur Malakar (26) and Binay Pun (21) also chipped in with useful runs but failed to take the team to victory.

Bishal Aggrawal bowled superbly for MCC, scalping three important Zealot wickets. He was well aided by Jagat Sharma and Saqib Kamar, who both walked away with two wickets.
