Ktm annihilate Bhaktapur

Post Report

KATHMANDU, April 16: Atish Shrestha’s all-round brilliance helped Kathmandu humiliate Bhaktapur by 141 runs in the ongoing Regional Cricket Selection tournament being held at the TU ground.

Shrestha, who was later declared man of the match, contributed 56 runs off 77 balls in Kathmandu’s total of 231 runs after being sent in to bat. He then returned to claim two wickets in his spell of five overs.

Apart from Shrestha, Paresh Lohani (46), Birendra Shah (30) Bardan Chalise (29 unbeaten) and Kiran Rana (22) batted aggressively to provide the bulk to Kathmandu’s score. For Bhaktapur, Niraj Pahadi claimed three wickets while Maheshwor grabbed a couple. However the wickets came at an expensive rate as all the Bhaktapur bowlers were punished by Kathmandu batsmen.

Chasing a formidable target of 232 runs in 40 overs, Bhaktapur batsmen could not handle accurate bowling of Kathmandu. Subrata Pandey was the lone batsman to offer resistance scoring sedate 22 runs off 88 balls. The remaining batsmen crumbled against Raju Basnet who broke Bhaktapur’s backbone with four wickets from 7.3 overs conceding just eight runs. Kalam Ali and Shrestha chipped in with two wickets each as Bhaktapur were bundled out for 90 runs in 39.3 overs.

Kathmandu take on Nuwakot on Wednesday.
