Trophy draw released

KATHMANDU, April 24 :
Nepal is pooled along with United Arab Emirates (UAE), Oman, Kuwait and Qatar in the Asian
Cricket Council (ACC) Trophy Cricket tournament starting from July 10 in Singapore,
Cricket Association of Nepal (CAN) said in its press release on Wednesday.
According to the ACC
released programme fixture, Nepal will play its first match against Oman on July 12 while
they will meet Qatar on 14. The mighty challenge for Nepal in the league phase will be on
July 16 when they face off another title contenders UAE, the defending champions. In the
league-cum-knock-out tournaments last match, Nepal will play Kuwait on July 17.
Hong Kong, Singapore,
Malaysia, Thailand and The Maldives are pooled in Group B. The semifinals
matches of the tournament will be held in July 19 while the final will be staged in July
21.
According to CAN
general-secretary Binay Raj Pandey, the players selection for the ACC Trophy will be
done after the completion of National League to be held later next month. Nepal had made
its debut in ACC Trophy in 1996 when the tournament was held in Malaysia. In 2000 ACC
Trophy held in Sharjah, UAE, Nepal managed to reach semifinals where they lost to Honk
Kong by 179 runs. |
