Nepals visit
This refers to the news story entitled:
"Opposition leader returns with new questions over refugee stalemate" dated
April 26, 2002, TKP.
A team of five UML leaders visited Bhutan at the
invitation of Bhutans foreign minister. Poor Madhav Kumar Nepal returned to this
country with the questions raised by the Bhutanese leaders during his three day visit. Now
Nepal blames the political leaders who cajoled, threatened and drove the common
Lhotshampas out of Bhutan, but not the draconian regime. The way Nepal spoke to the media
on his visit appears as if he is a carbon copy of the Bhutanese foreign minister. After a
decade Bhutan has realised that there are genuine Bhutanese citizens at Khudunabari camp.
But these refugees were forcibly evicted from Bhutan when they had raised their voice
against the imposition of dress code on Lhotshampas. Unfortunately, Madhav Kumar Nepal has
failed to understand this. And I am sure he, being a responsible leader, is unaware of the
total Nepali population still living in Bhutan. He being a baffoon, whom people enjoy
watching in a circus rather than in parliament, should not have visited Bhutan at a time
when the country is facing a serious crisis. Nepals visit amounts to political
interference to the refugee problem. Even if he had returned with a solution to this
problem, it would have still been an intervention into the external policy of this
country.
The government has every right to take action
against such leaders. The five UML leaders have acted against the policy of this country.
Chakra Prasad Bastola should also be taken into account since he visited Bhutan without
informing the government.
