Mt Everest and Buddha

I am a sixth grade student. Once we were studying a chapter on India’s geography in social studies. It mentioned that "Mt Everest is in India". I felt so insulted. No one can just say that Mt Everest is in India without proving it. Not even a little land part of India touches Mt Everest, so how can it be in India?

The chapter also states that Gautam Buddha, the founder of Buddhism, was born in India. Everybody knows that the Lord Buddha was born in Lumbini, Nepal, not in India. That’s not acceptable so the Nepalese government must have to do something to correct such gross factual errors.

The book’s name is: World Adventures in Time and Place, and its authors are: Dr James
A Banks, Dr Gloria Ladson-Billings, Dr Mary A McFarland, Dr Barry K Beyer et al.
