Outdated system

I am stunned by our outdated education system. In the twenty-first century, a person can get education through distance learning, whereas our education authorities are not even letting students to pursue higher studies in the subjects they are interested in.

Taking me as an example, I am a student who recently passed the Proficiency Certificate Level in Management as a private student from the Tribhuvan University (TU). Now, I want to study the Bachelor of Arts choosing subjects I am interested in such as Economics and Sociology. But when I went to fill up my examination form, a TU official said that I couldn’t study BA since I came from the management faculty. The subjects that I took up in the Proficiency Certificate Level (PCL) did not match with the subjects offered in BA, he said. Instead he recommended that I start taking PCL in Arts again so that I can study BA after two years. Do you think it is fair enough to join PCL again just because you want to change the faculty? Do you think such rules are necessary for a student who has already completed his PCL? When the education field is getting wider all over the world, I cannot understand why TU is being so conservative.
