NSC reports on fake certificates

Post Report

KATHMANDU, Feb 8: A probing committee, investigating on fake certificates among National Sports  Council (NSC) staff, has submitted its final report to the council’s member-secretary Binod Shanker Palikhe on Friday, said a council press release.

Palikhe, upon receipt of the report, declared that the council would form a separate high-level probing committee and contact all suspected national and foreign educational institutes to confirm authenticity of the certificates. "Only after carrying out the investigation, we will take charge against the culprit," the release quoted Palikhe as saying.

The committee, working in four divisions, took 40 days to complete its investigation, said Ramesh Khanal, the coordinator for probing committee. According to Khanal, the committee has found certificates from various foreign countries alongside India at the council.

He said that the committee, instead of verifying authenticity of those certificates, has only drawn out exact number from files of such individual staff and that the names of such certificate holders and their number would be kept confidential.

He also pointed out the necessity for approval of those certificates from respective educational institutes while suggesting NSC to form a high-level committee for the purpose.

Apart from Khanal, the three-member probing committee included Keshab Raj Gautam and Rudra Prashad Dhakal. Departmental chiefs, administrative officers, chief coaches and officials of NSC were also present at the function.
