Ideal down Little Angels’

Post Report

KATHMANDU, Feb 10 : Man of the match Munendra Khadka’s 4-wicket haul saw Ideal English School inflict a 21-run defeat upon Little Angels’ School in the Group ‘B’ match of the KB Memorial league cum knockout cricket tournament at the Tribhuvan University ground, Kirtipur on Sunday.

Little Angels’ decision to field first backfired as Suman Karki (16) and Ravi Thapa (52) put on a solid 55 runs for the first wicket.

Thapa, supported by Rasik Bhandari (22) after the departure of Karki, took 80 balls to make 52 runs. Ajay Rana built on top-orders’ good platform to make run-a-ball 28 runs in the later part of the innings. But his knock was overshadowed by some lusty hitting of Mayank Thapa who smashed 14 off 5 balls including three fours as Ideal English made 187 runs in allotted 35 overs with the loss of eight wickets. Saurav Shrestha and Roshis Khadka claimed two wickets each.

Chasing a big target, Little Angles started disastrously when Suman Mishra trapped opener Sumit Shrestha for a duck. But Nashesh (19) and Arun Dev (50) raised hope with 51-run second wicket partnership.

All Little Angles hope of fight back turned perished when regular bowler Avay Rana’s acrobatic work in the field found Dev short of his crease to be adjudged run out. His superb half-centurion knock came off only 47 balls.

In the later part of their innings Little Angels’ Nikhil Acharya demonstrated some brilliant cricket but lacked partner as wickets kept falling at regular intervals from the other end. Once again Ideal School’s agile fielding stole the show as a direct-throw by Khadka sent dangerous Acharya (38) back to pavilion. Little Angels’ could only manage 166 runs in 33.2 overs.

Khadka did well to wrap up Little Angels’ tail with an impressive haul of four wickets conceding 24 runs. A part from Khadka, Sabin clinched two wickets.
