The Maoists have made it all clear that their terrorism is not confined to outside Kathmandu Valley. Slowly but surely, they are invading the Valley. Take the death of a potter who mistakenly handled the so-called garbage bomb at Chabahil last week. Such other incidents occurred elsewhere in the Valley. This has given way to terror and uncertainty. Parents get shudders when their children go outside their houses to play. They fear that a bomb might go off anytime, anywhere. But it is also not possible to keep playful children within the four walls of the house. The threat of violence does not end here. It has become an integral part of city dwellers. Radha Upadhyaya I am writing this letter in response to Rajesh Subedis letter published in your paper on Feb 25, 2002. The letter was written in response to another letter by Suraj Bhattarai. I completely agree with these two gentlemen and millions of Nepalese people. I think even a prostitute in the streets of Kathmandu has some semblance of moral and ethical values than these so called political leaders. These politicians are elected criminals, and they are as bad as the Maoists. They have in fact raped our country. These Elected Criminals are responsible for the misery and suffering of the Nepalis. A country and its people cannot survive decently when its politicians resort to extortion, corruption, destruction and murder. Khagendra Thapa |
