I am a regular reader of The Kathmandu Post.
Though I do not claim that I read the paper top to bottom every day, I make sure that good
articles that appear especially on the editorial page do not miss my eyes. However,
sometimes it is frustrating to see the quality of the articles that get space in your
esteemed daily. The latest one is that written by Dr Hari Pokhrel, which appeared as the
main article on the opinion page on January 1, 2002. Dr Pokhrels article to some may
have seemed good and informative. However, I doubt if the article contains any text
written by Dr Pokhrel himself. Almost half the text contained in his article on Nepal
Development Forum has been lifted from a news item that appeared in your own paper just a
few days back.
And what makes the article worst is that it
begins by saying that the per capita income of Nepal is US $ 220. Let me advise Dr Pokhrel
to keep himself abreast of the latest statistics. And I assure you, being an ardent
reader, I have found such repetitions many a times even in the past by many other writers,
some of them well known. Dr Pokhrel and other cohorts doing such unethical things just to
earn a few hundred rupees, rather than name and fame, must be ashamed of their acts. I
advise all of them to refrain from doing such a thing in the future. I would also like to
request The Kathmandu Post to discourage such repetitive articles that hardly contains any
substantive information. You must take measures to ensure that your credibility is
maintained in the market. Above all, I would like to congratulate The Kathmandu Post
family for the better look that you
have given your paper beginning this year.
