Fake certificate racket
I would like to thank you for your candid views
on all those fake officials holding fake certificates (Faking it,
Jan 2, 2002, TKP). I guess there is nothing wrong if one goes even to the extent of
confirming that such officials, holding all those imported certificates, have
fake identities in society.
Let me make it a relevant point here: some time
ago, teachers and professors in India were given a questionnaire to fill up. The
questionnaire comprised many moot questions. One of the questions was if their schools or
colleges produced any officials or politicians who were then at the helm of Indian
bureaucracy and institutions!
What will be the outcome, if such questions are
to be answered by our teachers who themselves are appointed on the submission of imported
counterfeit papers? Who will punish the politicians if they themselves are involved in
making such appointments? Who will punish a judge if he or she happens to possess such
invalid credentials? These are some of the questions that need to be answered as early as
possible, if further chaos is to be wished away in the country. Moreover, these are the
questions which many politicians and officials in Nepalese bureaucracy will find a hard
nut to crack. We cannot but expect the government to take timely measures to raise a ray
of hope among the people that their children in schools/colleges will be taught by bona
fide teachers and professors. Similarly, the government should ensure that every citizen
in the country is getting services from a qualified official.
