Commuters woes
There was so much pomp and show during the
SAARC Summit. Now that the Summit is over, commuters are as usual having a hard time.
Public transportation service is poor. The number of vehicles are inadequate, and in the
absence of regular checks, greedy drivers cram passengers more than the normal capacity of
a minibus. Due to this, commuters should rely on other means of transportation which are
also no better.
There is always a never-ending rush, and
almost everyday one witnesses a road accident. On top of that, there is a problem of
pollution and its effects on health. It is time the valley Traffic Police Office
did something in cooperation with the Kathmandu Metropolitan corporation to fix the
Valleys road traffic and public transportation which is in sixes and sevens.
