Inter-Medical College Cricket

Post Report

KATHMANDU, March 20 Institute of Medical Sciences made a winning start to the first Inter-Medical College Cricket tournament as they beat Kathmandu Medical College by four wickets in the first of two matches played at Tribhuvan University ground on Wednesday.

The tournament, being organised by Nepal Medical College Student Society in association of Cricket Association of Nepal (CAN), saw KMC manage just 96 runs in 31.3 overs after they won the toss and elected to bat first.

Sumeet was the lone batsman in the KMC ranks to play with some degree of comfort against IMS bowlers, scoring 29 runs before falling to Chatura Buddhika Veerasinghe. A poor performance from middle and lower middle order was the prime cause behind KMC’s batting collapse.

Veerasinghe was the pick of the IMS bowling attack, taking three wickets giving away just 11 runs off 7 overs.

Coming out to chase a modest total, IMS could not make a start they would have liked, losing two of their batsmen – Saurav (1) and Shrivastava (3) – in quick succession. However, middle-order batsman Sameer played a steady innings to top score with 27 runs and Veersinghe returned with the bat to chip in 21 runs to steer the team home in 28.4 overs.
