Rain washes out fourth match
KATHMANDU, May 10 (PR) - Region No 1
(Biratnagar) and Region No 2 (Nepalgunj) shared points on Friday in the Birendra Memorial
National League Cricket championship after their match was washed out by overnight rain
without a ball being bowled. The water-logged ground forced the match referee Binay Kumar
Jha to call off the game, allotting a point to both the teams. The result means Nepalgunj,
who lost two previous outings against Kathmandu and Birgunj, had their hopes all but gone.
On the other hand, Biratnagar were playing their first match of the championship. Region
No 5 will take on Region No 4 on Saturday.
Swimming coachs solidarity course
LALITPUR, May 10 (PR) Seventeen swimmers,
including 12 national and 5 district-level swimmers, completed a six-day coachs
solidarity course at the Birendra International Swimming Complex, Satdobato, the Nepal
Swimming Association (NSA) said in its press release on Friday. According to the press
release, the course was aimed at providing coaching for the school-level swimmers at the
Birendra International Swimming Pool. NSA president Pradip SJB Rana gave away certificates
to the participants amid a function held at the swimming complex.

wins 5000m race
KATHMANDU, May 10 (PR) - Sapana Dhungana of the
hosts school Pritima English Secondary School secured first position in the girls
5000m road race that was held on Friday. The race, coordinated by Fair Educational
Competition Association (FECA), saw New Star Pole Schools Binita Thapa and Srijana
Bista clinch the second and third spots respectively. Likewise, in boys race, People
Peace Schools Biswonath Rayamajhi claimed the pole position while Deelip Thapa of
New Star Pole managed the second spot. The hosts Pritima Schools Niranjan Pokhrel
could only walked away with third position. The race, which started from Sinamangal and
ended at Jaributi, Koteshwor, was participated by a total of 90 students of 20 schools
around the valley. FECA president Bhupati Khadka handed over the medals and certificates
to the participants. |
