Water woe

Come summer, and there goes the usual tale of woe. Water! Water! People run here and there to collect drops of water, literally. And people of Kathmandu Valley, especially in areas such as Naradevi, Yetkha and Chhetrapati are going through hell. The supply of drinking water is erratic, and even if you are lucky enough to get a bucket of water, it is full of filthy substance. It is yellowish.

People from all walks of life- starting from housewives to office goers- all stand in queues to get a pail of water. Just imagine the time and energy wasted on getting a daily essential such as water. The water authorities have come up with water rationing. And this has caused more harm than good. Poor denizens do not know when the water is released, and they have to keep on waiting for hours. At times, they have to wake up even in the middle of the night. This is totally unfair. How long will we have to fall victim to this mismanagement?
