Another betrayal ?

The recent cease-fire being offered by the Maoists seems to have come at a time when they suffered heavy losses, which does look suspicious. As we all know that the last time when they offered peace talks it was just to put dirt on the government’s eyes. In fact, they were buying time to regroup and rearm to launch an offensive against the innocent people. So now again we see that first they were offering peace talks and now the cease fire. It seems they are unable to withstand the pressure of the loss incurred upon them by the security forces, and the international support that Nepal is gaining under Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba. Also the warning issued by the rebels that they would go on a full scale war if the government continued their operation also seems so unrealistic as a greater number of the population does not support them for their policies, the destruction of infrastructures and the killing of innocent people, and the security personnel are more prepared than ever. Prachanda or Baburam, Maoist supremos, cannot decide the choice of the Nepalese people. Let the people themselves decide what they want, and not some frustrated communist fanatics. I think it is time we extended full support to the government if we want to see a better future for our children and the country in general.

Note: I was curious about one thing: either the editor does not realise or is comfortable with giving Maoist leader Baburam Bhattarai the title "Dr" in front of his name. We all know that he had a PhD degree and thus he is entitled to use it. But it should be noted that he did his doctorate before becoming a terrorist. When he took the oath and got his PhD, I do not think he took the oath to become a terrorist and kill innocent people. He took the oath to serve humanity and Nepal.
