PM returns today with US, UK assurance

Post Report

KATHMANDU, May 14 Armed with assurances of help in the government’s fight against the outlawed Maoists, Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba is returning home on Wednesday after completing his visit to the US and the UK.

His visit to the UK was cut short by a day in view of the question mark over the extension of emergency that is expiring on May 24.

According to the Royal Nepalese Embassy in London, PM Deuba on Monday appreciated British support for Nepal’s war against terrorism at an interaction with members of an all-party Britain-Nepal Parliamentary Group at the House of Commons. He commended the contributions of the parliamentary group in promoting better understanding between the people and parliaments of the two countries.

The programme was chaired by Sir John Stanley, chairman of the group and was attended by its members, including Lord Swaraj Paul of the House of Lords.

Nepal’s ambassador Singh Bahadur Basnyat hosted a reception in honour of the Prime Minister.
