Deuba’s inability

I don’t know why Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba met the two world leaders - UK Prime Minister Tony Blair and US President George W Bush - to garner support for his fight against the Maoists. These two leaders, I am sure, will not be able to support Nepal in this fight even if they say they will support the government in the fight against the Maoists. India is the right country Nepal should seek support to eliminate the terrorists. Many Nepalese have raised their doubts that some Indian political leaders may have been backing the Maoists. It is natural to think so since the Maoists operate from India. But I don’t see any Indian leader who is directly involved in the Maoist movement.

Deuba appears to be too weak to deal with the Maoist problem. And it is also true that one becomes helpless when one fails to understand what he should do. And this is excatly what has happened to Deuba. Eliminating the Maoists is indeed a formidable task. The ongoing insurgency may claim Deuba’s prime ministership.
