Domestic tourism

It was last Saturday afternoon when I along with my friends decided to go to Thamel. Upon reaching the place, we were trying to choose amidst the numerous restaurants when one of the restaurants; with its attractive signage caught our eyes. With no second thought, we entered the place and found ourselves in a cozy restaurant plainly decorated but welcoming.

Making comfortable in long wooden chairs, I saw the restaurant filled with foreign guests. When no waiter made a move towards our table as the whole brigade of waiters were totally focused on showing their hospitality towards our foreign guests, I finally lost my temper and requested rather sternly to one of the waiters to take our order. However, our concern did not bother him and he took the order with an air of arrogance. After our order was served in hoping to get some cool air, my friend decided to open the window when there was a shriek from behind, we looked around to find out that one of the waiters was shouting at us from a distance not to open the widow as it was against the rules and regulation of the establishment. We were astonished with such an absurd behavior and decided to walk out, our minds filled with the bitter question: Are local guests not their guests?
