Surendra Chaudhary guides Tribhuvan Club into semis

Post Report

BHADRAPUR, Feb 12Surendra Chaudhary’s brilliant golden goal helped Tribhuvan Club register a stunning 1-0 victory over football powerhouse Manang Marsyangdi Club (MMC) in the Tribhuvan Memorial Gold Cup Football tournament on Wednesday.

In the quarterfinal played on Wednesday, the poor finishing of MMC cost them dear as Chaudhary fired home the decisive goal in the 16th minute of added time. Bishwo Bairag Samal was the feeder, who supplied a well-executed pass from the right at the centre.

MMC dominated the first half of the match entirely but failed to maintain the tempo in the second half. The army outfit maintained the tempo in the whole match while MMC players looked tired in the second half as well as added extra time. The match would not have been extended, had Shiva Chaudhary converted the spotkick offered just before the break to Tribhuvan Club. Sahila Maharjan of Tribhuvan Club was declared man of the match.

The lack of coordination among the players proved costly to MMC, who were beaten 3-0 in the semifinals against Friends’ Club in Aha Gold Cup recently. Sahara Club, Pokhara will take on ANFA Academy on Thursday.
