Boudha emerge champions

KATHMANDU, Feb 15 (PR) - Umesh Jung Thapa scored twice to guide Boudha Football Club to first position in Kathmandu district Khukuri Gold Cup Selection tournament beating Samaj Kalyan 4-2 on Saturday.

Thapa scored the goals in the 32nd and 48th minute while Sanchit Lama and Nima Lama also found the net for the winners. Norbu Lama scored both the Samaj Kalyan goals.

In Bhaktapur, Gyanu Shrestha’s golden goal, scored in the sixth minute of added time, saw Madhyapur Youth Club beat Kamal Yuva Parivar 1-0 in the final.

Elsewhere in Rupandehi Lisno Youth Club defeated Christian Youth Club 2-1 in the final match. Christian took the lead through Yogendra Thapa’s first half goal but Sumindra Kunwar struck twice for Lisno in the second half to seal the victory

In Bara, Unique Club got the better of Trishul Club 2-1 in the title clash. Raj Bahadur Choudhary and Babulal Das struck for Unique while Ghanshyam Choudhary scored the consolation goal for Trishul.

In Makwanpur, FC Internet emerged the winners after defeating Sano Pokhara ‘B’ 2-0 in the final. Sushil Shrestha and Birendra Rai scored the goals for the winners.

Meanwhile, Pokhara Club humbled Kaji Pokhara Youth Club 4-2 to become champions of Kaski district. Prakash Gurung and Anil Gurung netted two goals each for the winners. Similarly, Devendra Shah’s strike steered Jaleshwor into the final beating Dhalkebar 1-0. In Banke, Model Team and Bagmati Youth Club entered the final beating Karfando Club and New Danfe Club by identical margin of 2-0.

Likewise, Nawabahini Youth Club and Jalpa Devi Youth Club entered the semifinals in Nuwakot. Nawabahini hammered Samaj Sudhar Youth Club 5-1 while Jalpa Devi got the better of Manav Jagaran Club 3-2.

Quarter-final match of Tribhuvan Gold Cup postponed

BHADRAPUR, Feb 15 (PR) - The quarter-final match of Tribhuvan Memorial Gold Cup football tournament scheduled to be played between ANFA Academy and Sukatara Youth Association, Bangladesh on Saturday has been postponed till Monday. The Bangladeshi outfit couldn’t reach Bhadrapur on time and hence the organisers were forced to reschedule the match for Monday.

Three Star form new exec comm

LALITPUR, Feb 15 (PR) - Lalit Krishna Shrestha was elected as the new president of Three Star Club by unanimous vote on Saturday. The club’s general assembly elected Shrestha along with 11 other members to the executive body for two years in the presence of Komal Prasad Pandey, the chief of Lalitpur Sub-metropolis. Nirmal Ratna Shakya, Jayakrishna Shrestha, Arun Man Joshi, Ashakaji Shakya, Prajwol Raj Joshi, Krishna Bahadur Shrestha, Prem Chitrakar, Birendra Shrestha, Niwas Gopal Vaidya, Raju Kapali, Ramesh Awale were elected as executive members. Earlier at a programme organised by the club, chief guest Pandey distributed prizes to 13 players for their outstanding achievement at national and international spheres.

MM Trophy Open Basketball

KATHMANDU, Feb 15 (PR) - Gyanodaya and Himalayan White House registered comfortable wins on Saturday to enter the semi-finals of the MM Trophy Open Basketball tournament. Gyanodaya, riding on Monish’s 26 points, defeated Rookies 67-47 while Himalayan White House were 73-43 winners over Trichandra College. Sandesh, despite topscoring with 23 points in the match for TC, failed to see his team through. In the day’s other quarterfinals, PYC overcame a stiff challenge of Godavari Alumni Association (GAA) with a 66-54 win while Unique, helped by Rabindra’s 25 points, squeezed past BBC 65-58 in the closely contested match.
