Classical music contest winners awarded

Post Report

KATHMANDU, Feb 16 : Winners of the Children’s Classical Music Contest were awarded cash prizes and trophy by Hem Raj Gyawali, chairman of Kantipur Publications here today.

The contest was organised by the Kirateshwor Sangitashram at Guheswori .

Like in previous years, this year too the contest had three divisions, namely, beats, rhythm and lyrics. Ganga Lama secured the first place in lyrics while Ajay Thapa won in the rhythm category. Similarly, Sanskriti Shrestha bagged the first place in beat and also obtained the overall best performance prize.

Kirateshwor Sangitashram has been very active in the field of classical music. The main aim of this organisation is to conserve classical music, which has been overlooked due to the introduction of Western music.
