Rain abandons matches but delights Kathmandu, Biratnagar

Post Report

KATHMANDU, Feb 20 : Kathmandu and Biratnagar entered the final of the Birendra Memorial League Cricket tournament after their matches were abandoned on Thursday due to poor condition of the pitch.

Kathmandu and Biratnagar, the two undefeated sides in the all-play-all league, were due to take on each other at St. Xavier’s ground while the other match between Birgunj and Bhairahawa was due to take place at Tribhuvan University ground. As a result, all four teams collected two points apiece.

A win with a bonus point against the second-placed side Biratnagar and given that they lose their next game would have taken Bhairahawa to the final. However, the rain deprived them of possible four points.

On Friday, Biratnagar take on Nepalgunj in an inconsequential league match.
