Political parties, yes

I wish to thank you for assigning a reporter to cover the interaction programme on the "Role of Civil Society for Long Lasting Peace" organised by the Dr Dilli Raman Regmi Trust.

Regarding your reference to the programme which appeared in your newspaper on Feb 26th, I would like to correct your reporter’s understanding of what I said during my remarks. I did remark that the peace talks, in the first stage, should be held between the government and the Maoists delegates. I never said that "it was meaningless for the political parties to seek active role in the talks". What I said was that the major political parties are unlikely to nominate delegates to team up with the government delegates for the peace talks with the Maoists, and that they should rather participate in a triangular round table conference comprising government, Maoists and political parties, as seem to have been agreed between the government and the Maoists.
