Air safety
One of the divisions of the Civil Aviation
Authority of Nepal (CAAN) has reportedly found involved in extending landing licence to
one of the leading private airlines. According to reports, the particular division of CAAN
has violated international norms while granting permission to the landing of the aircraft.
But one thing. How come CAAN turned a blind eye
to this unscrupulous practice? This news has also brought to the fore that CAAN is losing
its control over various divisions. Otherwise this division would not have dared to
violate rules and regulations.
At a time when the aviation sector is embroiled
in one scandal after another, and its services are subject to bitter criticism, the
authoritys casual approach to air travel safety is raising its stakes. And this is
something the country cannot afford. Reducing air travel risks should be its main
concern.
