Factual errors
Please refer to the article titled:
"Footprints of terror", dated March 5, 2003, TKP, written by Ajay Sahani,
reproduced from South Asia Intelligence Review. The article is based on incorrect
information and is full with factual errors. The writer has unnecessarily maligned the
government of Pakistan and its institutions for sponsoring and supporting Al Qaida
outfits.
I would like to place on record that Pakistan is
fully committed (and is a very active partner in) to global war against terrorism.
Pakistan condemns terrorism in its all forms and manifestations. Pakistan has taken
various measures/ steps to curb sectarianism in the country. The present government has
banned all the religious sectarian organisations since two years ago.
The arrest of suspected terrorists, Khalid
Sheikh Muhammad and other A-Qaida members from Pakistan, is a clear indication that
Pakistan is fully committed to its war against global terrorism and has fulfilled its
international obligations. We have never allowed any Al-Qaida operatives or as a matter of
fact any terrorists to operate from the soil of Pakistan. The UN, US and other members of
the international community have greatly appreciated the Pakistans efforts in the
war against global terror.
In the end I would appreciate that if such a
biased article which greatly maligns Pakistan and its institutions may be avoided for
publication in your valued daily.
